Each one plays differently. Skins unlock from duplicate hatches and pearls.
How closely your flight angle has to match the slope you land on. With grades on, the inner half scores Perfect and the rest scores Great.
Painted: soft diagonal color stripes on textured paper, a new palette on every island. Candy: polka-dot hills with frosting edges. Paper: layered cut paper. Glow: dusky lagoon with glowing edges. Bands: the original look. Switches right away.
Rhythm sets give each set one hill style with steady spacing and a launch hill at the end. Applies from your next run.
Changes apply right away, so you can tune from the pause menu mid-run. Hill changes show up a couple of hills ahead.
